Bhutan in January

I would like to visit Bhutan in January 2007. I understand that it may not be the best time of year to go, but I am not able to go at any other time. Would it be worth my while to go in January? Or would it be too cold and snowy? I will be in Bangkok at that time and if Bhutan is not a wise destination, I guess I will find somewhere else to go. Any input you may have will be helpful. thanks.

Bhutan in January

My wife and I are also considering a side trip to Bhuttan from Bangkok, in late January, early February. My research seems to indicate that it should be a good time to visit..... slightly less expensive, cold, but mostly dry weather.... my only concern is travelling from valley to valley thru the mountain passes may be dependent on the weather.

I suspect your best bet is to get advice from one of the many ';tour operators'; in Bhuttan; who seem to be your ticket into this country.

Do you have any good leads on a good tour operator? YANA, has a fairly comprehensive web-site.... and I like that they put in their advertising, that they are in business for more than ';just taking your money';. If you get any good recommendations on who to use or book with, please let me know by posting here.

thanks,
