Per Day Fees for Travel in Bhutan

Hi,

I understand the Government of Bhutan charges $250 per person if traveling as a couple (total would be $500 per day) What kind of fee does the Tour Operator/Travel Agency charge to plan and coordinate the entire trip on TOP of the government charge?

Does anybody know? Has anybody figured out the differential between what an American company would charge per day vs. a Bhutanese Travel Operator directly?

Far Fung Places was several thousand more than Nirvana.

I think it is 240$ if travelling only 2, but you can check my post on this, where I copied all the information I got from Sonam, from Nirvana.

There is no extra charge for making your special itinary. If you wish to do special things not covered in the price, there might be a surcharge, like we had a seminar and paid extra for the conference room, and lecturers.Otherwise, it is the price quoted, per nighthalt, not per days, as usually the arrivals are in the afternoon and departures in the morning.

Nezzie:

Here%26#39;s the detail on our Invoice from Nirvana for both my wife and I:

Tour Cost 11 days $2,200

Visa Fees 40

Tourism Development Fees 20

Transfer Fees 25

Total $2,285

They also handled the reservations and payment for the Druk Air flights.

Those were obviously last year%26#39;s prices. We wired an initial deposit and air fare and later the balance without incident. Nirvana let us know when the deposits arrived.

You will also have some incidental expenses. Neither my wife nor myself( we%26#39;re in our mid 60%26#39;s) are shoppers, but we probably bought maybe $200 worth of textiles and souviners. You are also responsible for any beverages ( other than tea etc) with your meals. Both the wife and I developed a fondness for the local beer - Druk 11,000 but other than that and some tonic water for our gin, we really didn%26#39;t spend a lot on incidentals.

Too early for a math exercise!

The tour cost was $4,400 and the total $4,485 for two. Sorry for the confusion!

We are going in May and the tour cost with everything included for 5 days was $4500 for 3 of us

For 12 nights we paid between $6,000-$7,000 including upgrade to Business class on Druk. I don%26#39;t remember exact amount.

Go Druk 11,000!

Jeanie:

That%26#39;s right in the ballpark with our total expenses for the 11 days with Druk business.

I%26#39;ll have to give Ozchuck the full credit for the Druk 11,000 heads up. It sure went down well after the Tiger Temple adventure (as did the second one)! One of his many contributions!

Just for your information, visa costs 20$ per person, tourist development fee 10$ per person for the whole trip.

Price of flights can be asked through the tour operator, either from Delhi or from Bangkok.

From Delhi last year it was 680$ retour.

to the Bhutan Thimphu poster----please don%26#39;t forget that there is a FIT---- the extra fee for not going in a group. So it is not $200 a day per person. It is more.

Our Druk Economy fare Bkk-Paro was aprox $750 each, then upgrade to Business was $175 more each.
