From the postings on here, it sounds like there are not that many great restaurants in Bhutan. I am heading to Paro, Thimphu and Punakha soon. Anyone have really good (maybe great?) places to eat. I know the Swiss Bakery is decent for coffee, but what about dinner? It doesn%26#39;t have to be local dishes, but that would be better. Still, Indian and Chinese are fine with me. What are people%26#39;s favorite places they? I plan on bringing a few packages of twinkies just in case...
thanks,
Dion
Excitement for the taste buds?
If you want to eat real gourmet, than Bhutan is not the place for you. But.. there are a few good places, I guess your guide will take you to his favorites. We liked Plum%26#39;s cafe and Bhutanese Kitchen (if I remember the correct name) in Thimphu, and Sonam%26#39;s Trophel in Paro. I%26#39;d advise you to find the local food and not Chinese and others.
The Swiss bakery is a long way from every bakery and cafe in Switzerland. Try to enjoy the things Bhutan has to offer, it is an amazing country, and people will try to make you happy. And you can find all kinds of crackers in the local shops,an adventure of its own to buy local things.Have a wonderful trip.
