Hi there.
There are soooooooo many dzongs, and i intend on going from west to east, which means every city i go to - from paro, thimpo, punakha, bunthang, trashigang, mongkar, -- there are dzongs after dzongs. Can someone please tell me which are the dzongs REALLY worth a visit .......... please???
I%26#39;m not going to remember all those dzongs, so i would really appreciate if someone could narrow down the top dzongs/monastries/chapels that i shouldn%26#39;t miss!
Thanks in advance.
So many dzongs, so little time --- what to do???
As written in other answers to you, start with choosing a local tour operator who can put your itinary together. Too many Dzongs will be difficult to absorb in one time.
The Punakha Dzong is one of the most famous, richly decorated and large. I can tell you that when I came for the second time, there were many parts, I just didn%26#39;t notice the first time, so overwhelming it was.
Trongsa Dzong is also interesting because of the history, its strategic place and its connection with the Royal FAmily.
In Gangtey there is a beautiful newly restaurated Monastry worth visiting.
The Paro Dzong has a beautiful setting is not so big.
Wangdi is the oldest one.
I think these will be enough, you%26#39;ll have many Temples to see too.

Oh thank you sooooooo much!!! Now i can just focus on these dzongs! Thank you!
PS - I wish someone will compile a list of ';must sees';, and what can be missed.
