Hi!
My friends and I will be traveling for 2 weeks in Bhutan late-Oct to early-Nov. We%26#39;ll be trekking (Druk Path, 4-5 days) and touring (Paro, Thimpu, Bumthang).
It looks like our coldest times will be hiking ~11,000%26#39; to 13,000%26#39;.
Should we plan on temperatures in the 50s during the day, below freezing at night for hiking? And 60s-70s during the day, 40s-50s at night for touring?
Also, anything we shouldn%26#39;t leave home without?
Many thanks!
what kind of clothes to bring for oct trip?
Hi,
First of all, try to find out if you can watch part of the celebrations for the Coronation of the King, 6-8 November.
It can be cold and raining in this time, even snowing in the highest parts of your trip. Take a good sleepingbag, it might get to freezing point at night.Usually taking layers with thermal underwear, shirts and fleece, rainclothes and waterproof boots should do.When touring an umbrella can be useful.
And you don%26#39;t have to take fancy clothes with you for the evenings, as nobody dresses up, just something clean, and maybe a shawl will do.
In the hotels you%26#39;ll have heating when necessary.
Enjoy your trip, M.
what kind of clothes to bring for oct trip?
Thank you!
I%26#39;ll be traveling for two and half weeks through November - touring, not much hiking about. I%26#39;m on a tour going from west to east Bhutan so your inquiry was along the same lines as I was wondering. Have you any idea re how much money to bring? Clearly charge cards and ATMs are not on the list of things to be counted on. Anything you%26#39;ve learned about this would be helpful if you would share. Thanks
As most things are taken care of,you%26#39;ll need only money for your personal expenses. It depends if you drink wine or water, also how much you%26#39;ll use internet or phones. I%26#39;d suggest to take cash money and change for two weeks 150-200$ per person.Change at the airport, just before leaving, which is on your left, look right, and you%26#39;ll see a bankcounter. They are also quicker than the bank in town. You%26#39;ll be able to change in some hotels, and on the way if you%26#39;ll find a bank. Some souvenirshops might accept Visa, but don%26#39;t count on that.
Take an umbrella for the rain, very helpful when ther%26#39;s no wind.Rainclothes, and warm layers too. The hotels have heating.
Enjoy your stay, and then join the Bhutan-cheerers, who are waiting for their next trip.
